Benchmark iBasso

Bulgarian portable audio specialist​ iBasso has announced its flagship DX340 digital audio player as its latest reference-grade digital audio player.

Boasting a premium build, the DX340 features a next-gen audio engine with a 1-bit discrete DAC configuration controlled by iBasso’s advanced FPGA-Master 3.0 system.

It also supports the the full spectrum of hi-res audio formats, including PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and native DSD512 decoding.

Other onboard tech includes a dual operating system allowing users to choose between a pure audio-focused Mango OS or full Android 13 environment for flexible streaming and app access. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, the DX340 can also be expanded via microSD up to 2TB.

Its modular ‘AMP’ architecture means its standard AMP15 module can be upgraded via interchangeable amplifier cards including from the AMP1X series plus the AMP12, AMP13 and AMP14 while being compatible with other amp cards yet to be released.

Connectivity includes balanced and single-ended outputs, coaxial, USB OTG support and wireless options including Bluetooth 5.0 and dual-band wifi, allowing the DX340 player to function as a hi-res transport, wireless source or USB DAC.

​The iBasso DX340 costs £1,499 in standard guise and £1,899 for the limited edition titanium version.
