Grado Signature HP100 SE

Centenary cans

Grado has announced the Signature HP100 SE as its new flagship open-back headphone.

Inspired by the brand’s original hi-end Signature HP1 model from the early ’90s, these new cans have been created to celebrate what would be company founder Joseph Grado’s 100th birthday.

Redesigned from the ground up, the Signature HP100 SE boasts upgraded drivers, detachable cables and a fresh headband assembly, ushering in a new direction for Grado’s headphones.

Their 52mm paper composite cone drivers are powered by a high flux magnetic circuit using rare earth alloys, and a new voice coil made from lightweight copper-plated aluminium, while their external ear cup housings are individually machined from specially treated aluminium.

Elsewhere their detachable cable sports a 6.3mm plug with a 4.4mm balanced option for connecting to external sources, with various cable lengths planned. At the business end 4 pin mini XLR plugs with left/right colour-coding are there to plug into each earcup.

Extra comfort has also been considered with 50% more padding in the Signature HP100 SE’s headband compared to previous Grado designs, with a stainless steel band and adjustable height rods.
