Extra Fyne

Glasgow’s Fyne Audio has launched its new S-Trax super tweeter, bringing all the benefits of its acclaimed SuperTrax omnidirectional UHF technology into a more compact, affordable and universally compatible form.

The S-Trax is engineered to broaden frequency response far beyond the limits of human hearing while ensuring effortless integration with a wide range of systems.

With a simplified enclosure and finish, and fewer esoteric components compared to its flagship stablemate, S-Trax boasts an upward-facing 25 mm magnesium dome tweeter, driven by a neodymium magnet system.

This is then aligned to a patented Tractrix profile diffuser above, radiating high frequencies in a 360-degree pattern, said to better replicate the sound dispersion of real instruments vs the beam of a forward-facing tweeter.

To ensure compatibility with the widest range of loudspeakers, Fyne has engineered a 3rd-order high-pass crossover set at 16kHz with S-Trax operating in the super-high frequency domain, with a ± 4.5dB of fine-tuning gain to complement rather than compete with a speaker’s own tweeter. Built at Fyne’s new Glasgow factory, the S-Trax sports Fyne’s in-house CryoLite Deep Cryogenic Treatment in a bid to minimise micro-distortions and preserve signal purity in the internal wiring.
