Ferrum Audio WANDLA

Full fat Ferrum

Ferrum Audio is unveiling what it says is a complete high-end ecosystem built around its WANDLA, OOR, ERCO Gen 2 and HYPSOS units at the upcoming Bristol Hi-Fi Show.

At the centre of the range stands WANDLA (£2,795), described as ‘The Converter’ and built around ESS’s Sabre ES9038PRO chip with a proprietary current to voltage converter stage.

It also boasts an optimised ARM-based digital audio system module, known as SERCE which shortens the signal path and incorporates MQA decoding (alongside hi-res PCM and DSD data) and rendering alongside digital filter selection.

The WANDLA HP (£3,295) is an all-in-one headphone amp, adding up to 3.5W into 50 ohms of balanced output power, that is also upgradeable via the brand’s HYPSOS hybrid power system (£1,195).

Next up is the OOR (£1,995), another headphone amp that’s fully balanced using the brand’s proprietary discrete power amplifier approach, employing ‘superior output transistor steering’, ensuring they never turn off.

Ferrum’s ERCO Gen 2 (£1,795) is the company’s entry-level DAC featuring a new ‘bootloader’, enhanced DSP engine and ESS Sabre ES9028PRO chip, supporting PCM data up to 768kHz and DSD to 512.

It incorporates Ferrum’s HQ digital filter and improved I/V converter stage. With balanced 4.4mm and unbalanced 6.35mm headphone outputs, balanced XLR and RCA line outputs, analogue volume control with bypass, MQA decoding and rendering.
