Scotland’s Fyne Audio made the most of Munich’s High End show this year, by officially introducing its SuperTrax super tweeter (which we first saw back in Bristol earlier this year) and accompanying SuperTrax SC1 cable, alongside ‘Special Production’ versions of its popular Vintage Classic speakers in Vintage Classic Gold SP guise.
SuperTrax claims to be a revolutionary super tweeter which eliminates traditional super tweeters’ narrowly focused beam directionality, thanks to a 360-degree omnidirectional dispersion. Available in both traditional walnut veneer with gold anodised metalwork (to match the Vintage and Vintage Classic Series) plus contemporary gloss black and satin silver version (to match Fyne’s F700 Series), it’s offers traditional and modern aesthetics.
Built in Glasgow, the accompanying SuperTrax SC1 cable is designed and engineered by Dr Paul Mills using high-purity OFC copper ribbon conductors, with optimised spacing using LPDE dielectrics for low capacitance and improved vibration damping.
The SC1 incorporates a ground wire to reduce potential RFI, that’s Deep Cryogenically Treated in Fyne’s in-house DCT facility. The cable is then clad in a protective braided nylon sheath and supplied with high-quality, gold-plated Spade and Banana terminals.
The Vintage Classic Gold SP speaker range bridges the gap between the retro styling of the Vintage Classic Series and the higher-end Vintage Series, retaining the Classic rectangular cabinet shape, formed from birch ply with IsoFlare drivers (with improved neodymium tweeters and revised ‘BassTrax’ porting).
The SuperTrax super tweeter costs £3,499 in walnut finish and £2,999 in black finish, while the SuperTrax SC1 cable comes in at £349 per pair. Prices for the Vintage Classic Gold SP loudspeaker series are due to be confirmed in the Autumn.
