Following its teasing at the recent Bristol HiFi Show, Rega has revealed that its Planar 6 RS (Rega Special) edition turntable is ready to order.
Constructed using the brand’s unique Tancast 8 foam core plinth, it comes clad in an aluminium metal HP skin laminate.

This ridged ultra-light platform is all about reducing resonance says Rega, and like the standard Planar 6, the RS Edition includes a custom matched Neo MK2 PSU and hand tuned low noise 24v motor to drive its aluminium sub platter.

For the RS model, this is driven via an upgraded CNC machined twin drive pulley with twin Rega Reference EBLT belts, for improved accuracy and speed control.
Completing the package, Rega’s RB880 tonearm (usually found on the Planar 8) comes mounted with the brand’s range-topping moving-magnet Nd9 pick-up, which we reviewed earlier this month.

Other features include a dual layer ‘opti-white’ clear float glass platter, Rega’s double-brace tech between the arm mount and main bearing plus a smoked finish dustcover.
