Turn to the darkside

FiiO has announced two additions to its desktop audio range. The Darkside Pro is a low noise regulated linear power supply, joining the K13 R2R desktop DAC and headphone amplifier.

Designed to work independently or together as part of a desktop hifi system, the duo are packed with FiiO’s cutting edge yet affordable tech.

FiiO Darkside Pro

The Pro model follows the brand’s PL50 by replacing conventional switching adapters with a dedicated linear power supply that’s designed to reduce noise and interference within an audio system.

Its 75W toroidal transformer is paired with a fully discrete voltage regulation circuit with selectable 12V or 15V output and up to 3A of current, making it compatible with a wide range of audio devices including DACs, headphone amplifiers and network streamers.

FiiO K13 R2R

The K13 R2R is FiiO’s latest desktop DAC and headphone amplifier built around a ‘true’ resistor-ladder architecture, employing a fully differential 24-bit R2R DAC, built from precision resistor arrays.

Connectivity spans USB, optical, coaxial and I²S inputs alongside balanced, plus Bluetooth 5.4 with LDAC, while user-controls include a 10-band parametric EQ, accessible via FiiO’s Control app.

The Darkside Pro costs £140, while the K13 R2R comes in at £280.
