Vinyl excellence

Musical Fidelity fans will be salivating at the sight of the latest edition to its hi-end M-Series range.

Designed as an ideal partner for the brand’s M8xi integrated amplifier, the new M8x Vinyl is a dedicated phono stage that takes a step up on it its M6x Vinyl brethren.

As you’d expect, it caters for both moving-magnet and moving-coil pick-ups with with split-passive RIAA, DECCA and COLOMBIA equalisation curves alongside a two-step subsonic filter.

Adjustable impedance (for MC cartridges) and capacitance (for MM cartridges) are also part of the package, with load settings stored for each input.

M8x Vinyl internals

Its extruded aluminium chassis sports aluminium controls and dials in MF’s distinctive style and houses a super silent power transformer. Elsewhere, there’s discrete circuitry throughout the signal path and separate output stages to allow multiple outputs to be connected simultaneously.

Inputs are spread over two sets of single-ended (RCA) and two sets of balanced (XLR) with balanced and single ended outputs also on offer.
