Pro-Ject CD Box RS2 Tube

Catch the tube

Pro-Ject has unveiled its new CD Box RS2 Tube as the latest addition to its top-of-the-range RS2 line.

Combining a CD transport, a fully balanced tube output stage with twin two E88CC valves, and an integrated high-end DAC, it’s designed to be dedicated solely to ‘red-book’ CD standard, rather than as a compromised multi-format disc player.

At its heart sits a SUOS (formerly StreamUnlimited Optical Storage, founded by former Philips CD engineers) DM-3381 CD drive with robust aluminium construction. This is then coupled to a BlueTiger CD-88 servo.

Other features include fully balanced XLR and single-ended RCA analogue outputs, plus digital outputs to connect an external DAC. It’s also compatible with Pro-Ject’s Power Box RS2 Sources power supply upgrade.
