Pro‑Ject Audio Systems is adding two new headphone amplifiers to its stable with the Head Box DS3 B and Head Box S3 B.
The first models in a refreshed generation of the Austrian maker’s long-running electronics range (formerly known as Box Design), they bring fully balanced sound to wired headphones at an accessible price.
Both models use fully balanced circuitry, linked to 4.4mm Pentaconn and XLR outputs, plus line-level inputs via RCA and XLR.
Priced at £329, the Head Box S3 B delivers up to 820mW into 30 ohms from its integrated amplifier stages. At £629, the Head Box DS3 B ups the ante with 1.5W into 30 ohms thanks to its fully discrete amplifier design.
