Leak Sandwich 150

Little sarnie

Leak is adding a more bite-sized speaker to its revitalised sandwich line.

The tasty new compact Sandwich 100 is a two-way bass-reflex bookshelf design that joins the larger 150 and 250 models, as the baby of the bunch with a price tag of just £499 per pair.

Sporting the brand’s latest version of its iconic mid/bass driver, made up of polystyrene foam sandwiched between two sheets of aluminium foil for added stiffness in (an approach Leak pioneered way back in the ’60s to great effect), the latest model boasts an aircraft-grade Rohacell core, bonded using adhesives lifted from the aerospace industry.

Working in tandem with its 150mm woofer is a large (30mm) coated textile dome treble unit, fed from a dedicated crossover employing ‘audiograde’ (in the more general sense 😉) polypropylene capacitors, air-core inductors and low-loss resistors, arranged with a precision layout to minimise phase shift and signal loss.
