British loundspeaker brand Castle has lowered its drawbridge on four new models spanning two new series.
Both of its new Tintagel and Walmer ranges each feature one compact standmount speaker and one floorstander.
Made in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, from concept and development through to manufacturing and finishing, each model evokes the brand’s well recognised vintage styling and quality materials, married to the very latest tech.
Tintagel is the accessible end of the new ranges, which includes the Tintagel 1 (£1,999 per pair) two-way standmount that’s built around a 130mm advanced fibre mid/bass driver and specially developed 28mm silk-dome treble unit, with shallow waveguide. The two-and-a-half-way Tintagel 2 (£2,999 per pair) tower adds to this thanks to twin 150mm advanced fibre drivers for extra low frequency extension.
Crossover, cabinet and internal construction have also been considered, with the former developed to both divide frequencies and make the drivers behave as a coherent acoustic system, combined with cast alloy driver chassis, bitumen damping panels, bracing and long-fibre wool absorption all inside.
Upping the ante, the Walmer 1 is also a two-way standmount speaker, priced at £2,499 per pair and sporting a a 12x45mm true ribbon high-frequency unit in place of the lower range’s silk-dome.
While The Walmer 3 (£4,999 per pair) is a fully-fledged three-way design that adds a dedicated 115mm woven carbon fibre midrange unit, alongside the same true ribbon treble system as its smaller sibling.
