REL has unveiled two new Reference subwoofers, billed as the next generation of the brand’s flagship series.
No.35 and No.36 have been designed with REL’s Reference standards of speed, authority, precision and integration in mind, while being designated for different rooms, systems and listening experiences.
Technical advancements within each include with REL’s new Class AB/D amplifier architecture, which combines the current delivery of a traditional Class A/B power supply with the speed and efficiency of Class D.
For No.35 this means 900W of power, raised to 1,000W for the No.36, both fed from a 17-pound (7.7kg) toroidal transformer.
Other flagship features include REL’s Pure Carbon Fibre drivers, with a 12″ variant in the No.35 and a 15″ version in the No.36.
Existing REL owners have also been factored in too, with the No.36 retaining the dimensions of REL’s previous 15-inch Reference models, and No.35 that of the No.31, meaning existing owners can run them as standalone or incorporate either into a fully fledged REL Reference line array.
