Audio-Technica has announced its latest flagship closed-back headphones.
Designed and manufactured at Audio-Technica’s Naruse Factory in Japan, the new ATH-AWX7000’s outer shells come crafted from Kiso cypress, a prized Japanese wood known for its durability and natural beauty.
Each housing is hand-finished using Echizen lacquer, which involves a 1,500-year-old technique that allows the rarified wood’s finish to deepen in colour as it ages.

The ATH-AWX7000 is also the first model to feature the brand’s new True Closed-back Acoustic (TCbA) design, developed to control air pressure within the earcups for improved low-frequency performance, dynamic range, and clarity across the frequency spectrum.

Also on the spec sheet is Audio-Technica’s HMD (Hybrid Matrix Diaphragm) that’s designed to enhance transient response and dynamics and HXDT (High-Concentricity X Dynamic Transducer) tech, which is a manufacturing process that reduces production tolerances to support more precise diaphragm movement and improved detail retrieval.
