ATC C4 MK2 Active sub

Active lows

As a brand that doesn’t do new releases for the sake of them, when ATC announces a new product it tends to be big.

And with its 12in new proprietary driver, the company’s new C4 MK2 Active subwoofer is exactly that, driven by an in-house 300W Class AB internal amplifier for its SS75-314SC sub-bass driver (to give it its full moniker),

Driver tech includes ATC’s signature short-coil/long-gap configuration with a 30mm magnetic gap, surrounded by a 6inch (150mm) N48M Neodymium magnet, making this the most powerful driver ever assembled by ATC.

ATC C4 MKII sub

Fully hand built in Stroud within a substantial 70 litre cabinet formed from 25mm thick heavily braced panels, connections include two balanced line inputs for stereo or AV/home cinema systems, plus two balanced outputs to serve partnering stereo loudspeakers or daisy-chained multiple subs.

Its analogue low-pass filters are 4th order Linkwitz-Riley, with filter frequency options for partnering speakers. There’s also an optional industry-standard 80Hz low-pass filter, plus phase adjustment and stepped attenuation over a 2dB range for precise level matching.

Pick a finish

In standard cherry, black ash, walnut or oak real-wood veneers and satin black or white finishes the C4 MKII Active costs £3,990. Premium rosewood, European crown, cut walnut, burr magnolia and pippy oak real-wood veneers costs £4,750, plus £1,979 with an optional high gloss over veneers, while black or white piano lacquers cost £6,140.
