Audio-Technica is letting a new flagship moving-coil (MC) cartridge lose on the world of high-end vinyl replay at High End Vienna.

Titled the AT-MCD1 and priced at £9,999, the pick-up builds on the brands six decades of cartridge expertise and features an integrated one piece diamond cantilever and stylus, alongside a newly developed Shibata stylus (with a refined R2.7 × r0.08 mil curvature radius) to trace the most intricate groove modulations with accuracy and finesse.

Other exotic elements include wide response dual moving PCOCC (Pure Copper by Ohno Continuous Casting) coils, and a high efficiency magnetic circuit with increased flux density for higher output voltage.

Its hybrid structure if formed from titanium, aluminium, and elastomer materials to suppress resonances while reducing is overall mass.
