Wharfedale has announced its new Nova subwoofer series.
Comprised of four active models – made up of the Nova 8, Nova 10, Nova 12 and Nova 15 – each of their model numbers indicate their respective driver’s diameter in inches.
Designed to delivery balanced bass with texture and precision (as opposed to window rattling wallop), each Nova features newly developed long-throw drivers, passive Auxiliary Bass Radiators (ABRs) and cabinet architecture refined through decades of Wharfedale acoustic engineering.
Their main drivers are formed from lightweight paper cones featuring a proprietary coating for increased stiffness and self-damping, paired with a heavy-duty die-cast chassis, an oversized high-roll surround and a high-excursion motor system.
Their downward-firing ABRs are also mass-loaded with a dual-suspension design to offer extended low-frequency output, without the need for a conventional reflex port.
Inside each model each beats a high-current Class D amplifier platform offering nominal power between 200W and 360W depending on the model, with up to 80V peak output.
