Great news for starter systems as QED has announced its new Performance range of digital and analogue cables, designed as a one stop 13 cable ecosystem shop for hifi and AV systems.
Built on more than five decades of expertise, the new range includes speaker cables (plus dedicated bi-wire links) interconnects, 3.5mm jack to jack (for headphones and the like), optical, coaxial, Ethernet, USB (A, B and C) and subwoofer cables.
Features include softer more flexible TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer) outer cable jackets, new silver-grey connectors and more sustainable packaging.
For the speaker cable, the TPE is replaced with a dedicated LDPE Low-Density Polyethylene material, encasing its generous 2.5mm² conductor area, that’s formed from 99.999% oxygen-free copper. Also at work is QED’s X-Tube Plus tech that’s designed to maintain signal accuracy across the audio spectrum, while gold-plated Airloc plugs and spades provide a secure connection.
Elsewhere, the Performance analogue interconnects boast the brand’s Solid Complementary Conductor Technology, while also using a 99.999% oxygen-free copper conductor.
On the digital side, the USB models sport nickel-plated connectors in place of the wider range’s 24K gold-plated contacts, with prices starting at just £29.
Prices and set lengths
The Performance speaker cables starts at £119 per pair for a 2m length, with set lengths at 3m and 5m, and two sets of bi-wire jumpers cost £99.
The Performance Audio interconnects cost £49 for a 0.75m set, rising to just £59 for 1m and £89 for 3m.
Performance Subwoofer cable starts at £59 with lengths up to 10m, while the 3.5mm jack to jack comes in 1.5m and 3m lengths costing £39 and £49 respectively, with an option to have phonos at one end at no extra cost.
On the digital side, the coaxial variant starts at £39 for a 0.75m coaxial, £49 for optical and £29 for Ethernet, with the latter on offer up to 6m lengths.
USB models start at just £29 in 0.6m lengths, with options up to 3m (A to B) with a wide range of iterations covered.
