New products from PrimaLuna are always cause for a hifi fanfare, and this time even more with its new 300 Hybrid Integrated Amplifier. As the name implies, this is not just a valve amp and is, in fact, the company’s first hybrid model resulting in a collaboration with Floyd Design (the solid-state design arm of Durob Audio, PrimaLuna’s parent company).

PrimaLuna designed the amp’s valve-based preamp internals while Floyd Design applied its knowhow to unit’s solid-state power stage combining both approaches within a single chassis.

Valve preamp combined with solid-state power to bring the muscle and music in equal measure

Key features six hand-selected 12AU7 valves (2x input, 4x driver) in the amp’s preamp stage feeding paired JFETs from Linear Systems and specially manufactured MOSFETs in the power stage, delivering 2x 100W into 8 ohms.

Inputs include 5x line-level (RCA), a home cinema bypass circuit, subwoofer and ‘tape’ outputs, a built-in headphone amp and optional phono stage that attaches to the amp’s underside in a fully shielded sub-chassis.

The PrimaLuna EVO 300 comes with a black or silver front panel and costs £6,198. Visit PrimaLuna and Absolute Sounds in the UK to find out more
