PMC has unveiled its latest speaker series, named the prophecy.
The five-strong range boasts a wealth of PMC’s cutting-edge loudspeaker tech in a striking new aesthetic.
The line-up starts with the two-way prophecy1 standmount at £2,875, followed by the slimline two-way prophecy5 floorstander at £4,575. Next up is the three-way prophecy7 at £6,575 woth the flagship prophecy9 at £8,975 topping the range and featuring dual bass drivers. There’s also the matching prophecyC centre speaker (£2,275) for multichannel systems.
The prophecy models offer a radical enhancement of the company’s Laminair tech, working in tandem with the brand’s Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) approach. The patent pending LaminairX has undergone extensive R&D to negate turbulence, which claims to reduce resistance and harmonic distortion by up to 3dB.
Part of this includes a newly developed aerodynamic vent that’s now incorporated into the each speakers’ heavy extruded aluminium cabinet base, which also serves to anchor the speaker.
Elsewhere, long-throw bass drive units have been developed specifically for the range, formed from an ultra-light, mica-filled cone material.
For high-frequencies, the prophecy models’ 26mm soft dome tweeter has pro origins, having been employed in PMC’s professional near and midfield studio monitors, sporting Ferrofluid cooling and a specially designed dispersion grille for controlled directivity up to 180 degrees.
The three-way models also employ a 55mm soft dome mid-range unit, lifted from PMC’s pro studio models and its Ci series. A high-order, steep roll-off crossover made from military-grade circuit board with ultra-thick copper tracks and gold through plating links the drive units together.
