Topping is adding to its affordable ‘E’ series of compact DACs with its new E50 II.
And despite its £199 price tag, its spec looks anything but budget, being based around AKM’s top-tier AK4497S DAC chip, working alongside a 16-core XMOS XU316 processor that handles PCM data up to 32-bit/768kHz, and native DSD to 22.6MHz (DSD512).
Proprietary tech includes a ‘TopSync’ circuit with ‘JitterNull’ processing plus a fully balanced circuitry with features for pro users.

Connectivity includes USB-C, optical and coaxial digital inputs, plus HD Bluetooth, while outputs extend to balanced and single-ended (analogue). Alongside its volume control, users can also get tweaking its sound via parametric EQ through Topping’s Home app, its dedicated remote and the DAC’s touch control.
