UK distributor Renaissance has announced two major additions to MOON’s Compass Collection with the 491 network player preamp and 461 power amp.
Following in the footsteps of MOON’s 371 network amp, the 491 comes fully loaded as a network player, preamp, DAC, phono stage and headphone amplifier, with inputs spread over digital and analogue (including via balanced XLR for the latter).

At its core is the the brand’s proprietary MiND 2 streaming platform that’s Roon Ready with AirPlay and Bluetooth connectivity plus access to Qobuz Connect, TIDAL Connect, Deezer and Spotify Connect streaming platforms via MOON’s MiND Controller app and CRM-4 remote.

While on the vinyl side both moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges are catered for with a range of adjustment options. Other top flight MOON tech includes its Hybrid Power (MHP), while a large colour screen is there for displaying settings, album art and track details.

On the power amp side, the new 461 boasts 150W per stereo channel into 8 ohms (more than doubling to 330W into 4 ohms). At the 461’s heart beats MOON’s proprietary MDCA (MOON Distortion-Cancelling Amplifier) architecture, originally developed for the brand’s flagship North Collection.
The Compass 491 costs £5,950, while the Compass 461 comes in at £4,550. Visit MOON by Simaudio and Renaissance Audio in the UK to find out more.
