Hegel Raven D50

Raven takes flight

Hegel has introduced a stand-alone DAC to its portfolio. Named the Raven D50, with its title derived from Norse folklore associated with revealing hidden truths, it’s designed for low distortion with its chassis housing two toroidal transformers, shielded in a separate steel compartment.

Their output is also filtered before entering the unit, further lowering noise.

The DAC itself boasts ESS’s new flagship two-channel 9039Q2M chip, housed on a separate circuit board that’s raised above the rest of the electronics.

Other features include three separate master clocks to ensure timing errors and jitter are kept to an minimum and Hegel’s ‘Synchronised Up-sampling’.

Elsewhere its linear phase ‘LineDriver’ output stage has a high current capacity and low output impedance to be able to drive all types of signal cables and equipment.

Priced at £4,250, visit Hegel and The Audio Consultants in the UK to find out more.
