Kimber PBJ feature image

Back on the menu

Russ Andrews is re-introducing the original Kimber Kable analogue interconnect. Named PBJ (derived from ‘peanut butter and jelly’ and its WWII association with anything staple), it’s aimed as a step-up from entry level cables.

Sporting the original’s woven design but with higher purity copper (102% IACS to be precise), its braided VariStran conductors feature different wire gauges that favour different audio frequencies (totalling seven individual strands of differing gauge for each conductor).

The three conductors are then arranged in a tri-braid construction, which also acts as an Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) filter, removing both airborne RFI and that which is conducted by the cable.

Kimber PBJ from above

Covering each conductor is a fluorocarbon (Teflon) insulation or dielectric and comes offered with a choice of Nickel-plated RCAs (starting at £75 for 0.5m), UltraPlate RCAs (starting at £130 for 0.5m) and Switchcraft XLRs (starting at £145 for 0.5m) and all the standard Russ Andrews 60-Day Money-Back Guarantee and 25 Year Warranty.

Replacing Kimber’s Tonik and Timbre interconnects, PBJ is set for its public debut at the North West Audio Show in Cranage on 21/22 June.
