Yamaha Corporation has announced two new compact hifi components, in the WXA-70A Streaming Amplifier and partnering WXC-70A Compact Streamer.
The WXA-70A’s condensed chassis is packed with an ICEPower Class D amplifier offering 70W into each stereo channel at 8Ω, increasing to 105W for 4Ω.
Other features include an ESS SABRE ES9039Q2M Pure Ground DAC and wifi steaming via AirPlay, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect and Qobuz Connect while also being Roon Ready.
Connections include HDMI eARC plus analogue for legacy turntables, CD players and the like, all for £1,199. And if you want the WXC-70A streamer only model, this brings some savings at just £859.
Both models take full advantage of Yamaha’s enhanced digital playback architecture which is aimed at reducing the effects of jitter before the signal reaches the DAC, by rebuilding incoming timing with ASRC (Asynchronous Sample Rate Conversion) and handing the signal to the DAC on a more precise internal clock.
Also onboard is the brand’s proprietary YPAO (Yamaha Parametric room Acoustic Optimizer) automatic sound optimisation tech. This works by using an included microphone to measure an individual listening environment and adjust playback accordingly, for a more natural and balanced soundstage that’s tailored to the room.
