Southport’s iFi Audio is set to whet the appetites of headphone fans with the launch of its new hip-dac2 portable USB headphone amp.

Launched 21 months after the original hip-dac hit our pockets, this upgraded version looks fresh in a gorgeous ‘sunset orange’ anodised finish, in place of the original’s petrol blue paint work.

Its internals have also been reworked too with a 16-core XMOS processor, delivering double the clock speed and four times the memory of its predecessor, alongside full MQA decoding. Hi-res PCM and DXD audio data are supported at sampling rates up to 384kHz, alongside DSD up to 256.
