Ultrafide Audio by MC² has announced what will be the next model to join its recently released amplifier range.
Named Dias-U8 (Dias being the original name for king of the gods Zeus) its a beast of a Class AB amp that’s capable of up to 1KW per channel, housed in a massive steel chassis weighing 50kg.
Its topology is based on a unique ‘floating drive’ sliding bias design from pro audio experts Terry Clarke and Alex Cooper, whereby its output stage is controlled by a single op-amp IC, that’s powered from floating rails tracking the power output signal within a control loop that’s said to account for the amp’s open and natural sound.
Power is via a whopping 1000VA toroidal PSU, feeding dual-mono channels.
