Audio Research has unveiled what it says is its finest-ever power amplifier to UK audiences.
The culmination of 55 years of valve amp design, the Reference 330M is a fully balanced, pentode-mode monoblock boasting 330W (more than double that of the previously range-topping Reference 160M MkII).
Its output stage incorporates six KT170 valves, driven by JFET transistors in a uniquely designed valve/solid-state hybrid input and power supply circuit, with an all-valve signal path.
Also present is Audio Research’s trademarked GhostMeter VU display ‘floats’ in front of the KT170 valves within a dual-layer glass window.
Elsewhere, its input stage sports an ECC83 and an 6H30 valve, with a 6550 and a 6H30 in its power supply circuitry.
Weighing 45.8kg and priced at an equally substantial £92,000 in black or silver finishes, visit Audio Research and Absolute Sounds in the UK.
