American valve amp aficionados Audio Research is combining style with substance, launching its new I/50 integrated valve amplifier.
The first in a new more affordable line from the Minnesota brand, this amp is also a design delight with a choice of six colour finishes for its Cerakote ceramic-coated top plate.

Being Audio Research, the I/50 also boasts true hifi pedigree thanks to three 6922 valves for the input and driver stages and two matched pairs of 6550WE valves in the output stage, delivering 50W per side.
Upgrades aplenty
Connections include three RCA (single-ended) and one XLR (balanced) analogue input, with 4 and 8ohm speaker taps. Thanks to its modular design, there’s also the promise of adding an optional phono stage and/or DAC which are set to be released next year.
And with a full-function remote control, this is set to be an enticing package.
