Acoustic Energy has added a new flagship loudspeaker to its recently launched 100 Series.

The AE120² is a three way design and the largest model in the 100 range with twin 130mm bass drivers, an equally sized midrange driver that’s housed within its own unit and a 25mm fabric dome tweeter that’s built around the brand’s Wide Dispersion Technology (WDT) waveguide approach.

The speaker’s three way crossover is impedance compensated to avoid resonance and further attention has also been paid to the drivers’ phase and time alignment for optimum integration.

Like its AE109² brother, the AE120²’s cabinets are constructed from 15mm HDF that’s mass loaded and internally braced to help dampen vibration.

Measuring 950 x 165 x 250mm (HxWxD, with plinth) and available in satin black or walnut veneer, the AE120² looks a lot of speaker for its £799 price tag.
